We currently have 21 Beavers in the colony – with a waiting list. We have an average attendance of 98% – which is great! As usual we have had a very busy – and fun – year!
The District Beaver sleepover took place back in October. It was all based around the Queens Diamond Jubilee theme. As usual there were lots of games , craft activities and new friendships made. We had 10 Beavers attend, some of whom had never been away from home before. Everyone had a fantastic time so well done to all of them!
We had the very great honour of being invited to visit the Mayor, due to the fabulous Poppy Wreaths that the Beavers created in November for the Remembrance Day parade. They treated us like royalty – it was amazing, and very interesting to hear about all the history and protocol of the Mayor’s office – all the Beavers were extremely well behaved, impeccably dressed and smart, Jayne and I were very proud to be there with them. Thanks must go to Paul and Devarsh for zooming us down there in the mini bus/car.
What a fun time we had for Red Nose Day, thank you very much to all the parents who made cakes for the beavers to decorate. The Beavers loved telling the jokes, some were rather tentative at first but soon developed an addiction to the microphone! We raised a whopping £45.13 selling the cakes back to you. Thanks for making that evening special for them, and for donating to a great cause.
On a personal note I would like to thank Jayne for coordinating all the badges and for basically telling me ‘it will be fine’ – it never ceases to amaze me how we coordinate it all with full time ‘paid’ jobs and family etc to take care of!
Thank you to Issy Stephenson for all her help over the last term, she is an explorer scout who is helping us to complete part of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award – but – she is staying on to help us for another term (or more)!
Thank you to Paul, Devarsh, Emma, Julia, Ray & Glen who help out constantly.
Parents please note that a lot of our organised events/outings are crucial for a huge amount of the criteria for our challenge badges, please try and encourage them to attend.
