Scout Troop Report 2012-13

large

The Troop has grown since last year, with 34 Scouts currently on the books. 14 new Scouts have joined the Troop from the Cub Pack in the last year, and three Scouts have joined externally. Our leadership team of Karen, Andy, Tony, Anne-Marie, Conor and myself has grown again this year with Dave Logan joining the team as an Assistant Scout Leader, and David Archer returning to the Troop to offer his experience when work allows. These additions to the team come at a perfect time for the Troop, with Karen and I expecting a new addition of our own! Karen will be stepping away from Friday evenings, but will continue to support the Troop by looking after the admin and organisation for camps and trips.

The Scouts have enjoyed a successful 12 months since the last AGM. All our teams performed very well in the District Patrol Quiz, and we had another good performance in the District Archery Competition, taking first and second place in the Individual Junior category, and winning both the Junior Team and Overall Team trophies.

Friday night programmes have been varied, and have maintained a focus on the Challenge badges, and most of the Troop have now completed their Creative, Global and Promise Challenge Badges! We also enjoyed an evening of ice skating at Planet Ice, Hemel Hempstead, in February.

District Archery 2013

We have had a fun and action-packed year ‘under canvas’! First up was Family Adventure Camp where many Scouts and Leaders enjoyed the opportunity to take part in activities with other members of the Group, and their parents as well! A Summer Camp near Bristol with glorious weather (possibly the best week of 2012!) was enjoyed by 17 Scouts, where there was a range of activities, some exciting trips, and a hike across the border to Wales! In the last term we have had 2 camping weekends, with an indoor experience at PACCAR (Chalfont Heights to those with long memories!) in February, followed by a weekend under canvas (and snow!) at Phasels Wood at the end of term.
