AGM 2016 – Scout Leader’s report

Scouts 2015-16

Scouts fire

Scout Troop Events

The Troop took part in many events during the year. We had a number of wide games and night hikes. More than half the Troop took part in the Remembrance Day Parade 2015. We hosted the District Scout Quiz, had three camps, and a Scalextric night away on one of our Troop nights. All in all a very busy year.

Scout Badge Focus

The Troop earned over 160 badges in the last year with most of the Scouts being awarded both the Teamwork Challenge and Skills Challenge Awards.

Winning Patrol Inspection

Well done to the Hawk Patrol; Jaden Finlay (PL), Jadon Isayas (APL), Tayla Williams, Kirsty Young and Zane Siamani for having top Patrol Inspection Points.

Scouts Moving On

Callum Heattie-Ball, Jaden Finlay, Freya Walsh, Rebecca Fallon and Callum Sugrue.

Well done to all the Scouts. We hope they all had a great time with us and are now ready for a new challenge in Explorers. We are especially sad to see these great PLs leave us, as we have seen them grow from when they joined our Scout Troop:

  • Callum Heattie-Ball was our Jack Petchey Award Winner 2015. He is an inspirational Patrol Leader in the Troop and always kind, helpful and courteous to all, especially to the younger Scouts. He has achieved several badges in the Troop, as well as leading his team in our Scout Quiz night and World Trade game, to mention but a few events.
  • Jaden Finlay has really grown (and not just in exceptional height) since joining 6th Harrow Scouts. He has earned his leadership badge, by being APL and then PL, and his Patrol won our Patrol Inspection Prize for the past two years running!
  • Freya Walsh has been excellent in participating in group activities and events and even showed some leadership skills on her summer camp not long after joining 6th She also quietly demonstrated exceptional leadership skills with the other PLs, when she led the organisation of the PL led-night this year, which was a wonderful success.
  • Rebecca Fallon is our Jack Petchey Award Winner 2016. She has been an inspirational leader in the Troop and thoughtful and kind to the new Scouts, making them feel at ease. She has achieved several badges in the Troop, in particular the Personal Challenge Award, which she earned by challenging her personal fear of being blindfolded.
  • Callum Sugrue joined our Troop just last year, but has got very involved in a relatively short time with us. He even led some of the Scout activities on Family Camp this year. We expect he will continue to grow as an Explorer.

Cubs moving up to Scouts

Adam Jaber has recently joined the Troop from the Cub Pack, and many more are expected to move up in the New Year!

New member of the Leadership Team

We welcome Sarah Evans who joined the Troop leadership team this year, and has been of great assistance both on Troop nights and at our camps.
